Summer Art Camp


Kaleidoscope Summer Art Camp 2007 will take place in our beautiful new facility, opening June 9, 2007! Don't miss this opportunity for your children to imagine, create and learn in a vibrant environment!Early registration for Museum Members begins February 1st. General registration begins March 1st. Space is limited.

Click on the links below for more information about Kaleidoscope 2006. Print out the registration form and email, mail or fax it to the Museum. If a class is closed, you will be contacted as soon as possible. If a class has closed and you wish to be added to the wait list please return the completed registration form and write, "wait list" next to the title of the session. If you are just requesting to be added to the waitlist, please do not send payment at this time; you will be contacted if a space becomes available. Please email Lianne Takemori at ltakemori@msmuseumart.org to confirm receipt of your registration.

Please note: Rising 3rd or 6th Grade Students may remain in the younger grade level sessions and/ or move up to an older grade.

All Kaleidoscope Summer Art Camp students will have the opportunity to view our special exhibition Between God and Man: Angels in Italian Art.




Mini Masters: My Mississippi Museum of Art      $95

Students ages 5 years – 2nd grade  
Morning Session 9:00 a.m. - noon
Afternoon Session 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Imagine, create, invent... draw, paint, print... collage, construct, model... learn, enjoy and experience the excitement of using materials from the Art Kit to make a Masterpeice!

We offer six different Mini Masters classes; each week will provide students with different projects and themes based on works in our Museum. Students will be introduced to techniques such as printmaking, sculpting, painting in different mediums, collage, ceramics and more. Morning and afternoon sessions are available.

On your form please write the name and number of the session and indicate morning or afternoon in the space provided. Students can enroll in only one of multiple sessions. *To enroll, students should be 5 years old and ready for a classroom environment.

Art Adventures  $150

3rd – 5th Grade
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

June 11 – 15  Land & Sky/Earth & Sea: Our Mississippi Landscape flows from the cotton fields to the coast – join us as we travel across the state on an artistic journey through the different landscapes that make Mississippi our home. Learn different techniques that will help you depict your own area of the state and take home a piece of Mississippi all your own.

June 18 – 22  The Mystery of the Portrait Gallery: Take a detective’s look at art that’s looking back at you! What clues can you discover about a person by examining a portrait? If you created a portrait of yourself what hidden message would it contain? Solve the mystery and create your own portrait to keep and share.

July 16 – 20 Never A Dull Moment: Daily life in Mississippi can be challenging and fun, unusual and exciting but never dull – from the first settlers and explorers to rebuilding after Katrina, life in our state is a changing canvas of events that artists have captured in paint, paper, cloth and film. Come ready to share your own stories that can be translated through art.

July 23 – 27 MMA Gems: Treasure Hunters wanted! Grab your spyglass and join in the fun as we search through the galleries to find the best and brightest, the most valuable, irreplaceable and indelible gems of our collection - Then bring home your own treasures created and collected along the way.


Studio I  &  II         $150
6th – 8th grade
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

These gallery and studio classes will fully explore our exhibition Between God and Man: Angels in Italian Art. Delve into two distinctive periods of art history, the Medieval and Baroque. Study the masters and learn to distinguish the hallmarks of these unique eras of art, discover the materials and techniques of the past and create your own inspired masterworks.

June 25 – 29 Studio I: Medieval Masters  
July 9 – 13  Studio II: Bring Back Baroque
