Nicolas Trepanier moved from Quebec, Canada to Water Valley, Mississippi to take a job as a professor of Middle Eastern Studies at Ole Miss. As he puts it, his reception in the South shattered his preconceptions and allowed him to tap into parts of his identity that he had never been able to before.
