Students will learn what exactly “printmaking” is and why it may be an artist’s medium of choice. Three basic printmaking techniques will be introduced, including monoprints, linocuts, and collagraphs. Over the course of the week, students will use drawing as a tool to explore sources of inspiration and to practice effectively planning prints. At the end of the course, students will have produced a mini portfolio of prints, which demonstrates their knowledge in each technique.
In this week's course, mixed media artist Jordan Hess teaches a variety of printmaking techniques. Jordan, a resident of Jackson, is also a member of the Museum's preparatory team, assisting in exhibition installation.
