Building with sculptural materials such as clay, papier mache, wire, large beads, and found materials, children ages 5-7 in this afternoon class will become familiar with the fundamentals of sculpture. This week will not only challenge students to think creatively, but three-dimensionally! With projects and conversations inspired by work in Picturing Mississippi, students will learn and have fun creating their own pieces of art. Bring your imagination and dress for mess!

About the Instructor:
Born and raised in North Carolina, McKenzie Drake is no foreigner to sweet tea and the all-inclusive "y'all." After graduating from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, in 2017 with a BA in Art and Political Science, McKenzie enjoys inspiring others to think creatively in and out of the studio. Her art has been featured in multiple group juried exhibitions, community-based events, and is featured in the Rhodes College permanent collection. She now continues her practice as the William R. Hollingsworth Fellow at the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson, Mississippi, where she leads family and studio programming.
