Introduce your budding artist to the Museum and all the materials that help artists to create! Each class focuses on a different material on display in Picturing Mississippi and will engage children and their caregivers in gallery activities, hands-on art projects, art games, and books. We will use an array of sensory media, as well as air-dry clay, washable paint, paper, pencil, crayons, glue, and more. Bring your imagination and dress for mess!
*Students must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
About the Instructor:
Born and raised in North Carolina, McKenzie Drake is no foreigner to sweet tea and the all-inclusive "y'all." After graduating from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, in 2017 with a BA in Art and Political Science, McKenzie enjoys inspiring others to think creatively in and out of the studio. Her art has been featured in multiple group juried exhibitions, community-based events, and is featured in the Rhodes College permanent collection. She now continues her practice as the William R. Hollingsworth Fellow at the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson, Mississippi, where she leads family and studio programming.
