This month, we partner with Verge JXN, a free participatory and interactive Spring art festival held in Jackson. Join us for a sampling of interactive projects from local artists, including "Mr. Picasso Head" and "mini Monster Jam", where participants create action paintings using paint, remote-controlled trucks, and a kiddie pool. Get outside your comfort zone and step out to the verge!
Also during the evening: Chef Nick Wallace hosts his monthly 'sipp Sourced pop up dining experience; artist Gerard Howard gives An Artist's Look tour of the 2016 Mississippi Invitational; Dr. Igor Iwanek, an award winning composer and performer formerly on the faculty of MIT in Boston and now at Jackson State University, presents a relaxing evening sound meditation; stop by the Art Lab to create inventive drawings in a Surrealist style through a rubbing technique known as frottage; and more.
Every third Thursday we host Museum After Hours, when we open the doors after hours to partner with and embrace Mississippi's creative community. These family-friendly events feature one-night pop up exhibitions, pop up dining experiences, and combinations of live music, outdoor movies, games, and more. Each month has a new theme and a new story. The Museum Store and exhibition galleries remain open until 8 PM for shopping and exploring. Sponsored by Hertz Investment Group and Capital City Beverages. Cost: Free to the public.
