Every third Thursday we host Museum After Hours, when we open the doors after hours to partner with and embrace Mississippi's creative community. These collaborations feature one-night pop up exhibitions and dining experiences and combinations of live music, outdoor movies, games, and more. Each month has a new theme and a new story.
5:30-8 PM: POP-UP ART | “Student Inspired: Jackson State University’s Patrick Kelly Exhibition”
5:30-8 PM: POP-UP DINING | Guests enjoy a special evening menu prepared by La Brioche at the Museum
5:30-6:30 PM: Program welcome by the JSU Drum Circle, spoken-word poetry performance, and presentation by Director of JSU Art Galleries Shon McCarthy
5:30-7:30 PM: ART LAB | Pop Art in The Art Garden with Cassandre Connolly. This collage-making art activity focuses on the work of Patrick Kelly and Dusti Bonge and the role of pop culture in art.
6-7:30 PM: HIGH NOTE JAM | Greater Jackson Arts Council's free community concert series kicks off with the Irish tunes of The Paul Brock Band on the CSpire Stage in The Art Garden.
8 PM: SCREEN ON THE GREEN | The 1978 musical adventure The Wiz, starring pop culture icons Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Lena Horne, and Richard Pryor. Presented in partnership with the Crossroads Film Festival.
Food trucks onsite: 2 for 7 Kitchen, Bessi Roos Food Truck, Ma & Pa Kettle Korn
This event is free and open to the public. The Museum Store, La Brioche at the Museum and galleries stay open until 8 PM.
