Music in the City

Tuesday, June 13, 2017

5:15 PM cash bar; 5:45 PM program

Trustmark Grand Hall

Music in the City continues with another masterpiece by Francis Paulenc, the Trio for Oboe, Bassoon and Piano, played by oboist Tracy Carter, bassoonist Nathan Livingston, and pianist John Paul. Once again, Poulenc spreads himself from the popular (and even slightly sleazy) to the utmost in elegance. All three instruments are pushed to their technical boundaries in moments of breathtaking speed and chromatic extravagance. In contrast, violinist Tom Lowe and pianist John Paul play Mozart’s delectable early Sonata in E Minor for violin and piano. It has been referred to as the “Beethoven, eat your heart out sonata!” This event is sponsored by Wise Carter Child & Caraway, P.A. Cost: Free, donations welcome.
