*This is a partnership event hosted by the Mississippi Light Collaborative.
The Mississippi Light Collaborative will host the inaugural Mississippi Light Festival in the Mississippi Museum of Art's Art Garden on February 24, 2017, from 6 PM to 11 PM. It will span Jackson Convention Complex, Mississippi Arts Center, Russell C. Davis Planetarium, the Museum and Thalia Mara Hall.
The program for the night includes light festivals from around the world, virtual reality experiences, living graffiti, a drone show, the light bar, light experiments, dance and projection performances, light costumes, a silent disco, innovator talks, STEM lab, live streaming, 3D mapping, interactive light furniture, and much more. There will also be food trucks, a Light Lounge and glowing cocktails. The Museum's doors will be open to visitors, and the Light Lounge will be located just inside the Museum lobby.
The inaugural Mississippi Light Festival will be one of the first of its kind in the state and showcases innovation and creativity in art and technology through light. This fun, dynamic event includes work from local architects, artists, filmmakers, STEM educators, scientists, programmers, designers, technicians, dancers and musicians. Through showcasing existing talent in Mississippi, the Mississippi Light Festival aspires to open up the world of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) to all residents.
