The Art Garden at the Mississippi Museum of Art is a 1.2 acre park located in the heart of Downtown Jackson. The Art Garden is surrounded by Jackson’s foremost cultural organizations, all of which contributed invaluably to its development, and is designed to engage visitors not only in the visual arts, but in all the arts.

The Art Garden features a welcoming lawn, seasonal foliage, native garden beds, permanent art installations, soothing fountains, and outdoor terrace dining. This versatile, open, outdoor space is open to the public from 10AM – 5PM daily. The Museum also hosts a variety of free community events – a Spring and Fall concert series, live music during lunch hour, and an outdoor movie series – throughout the year in The Art Garden. Check our events calendar for information about ongoing events.

Our Neighbors

Like the Museum itself, The Art Garden is an inviting space in which everyone — from the longtime Museum member to the out-of-town tourist — can engage comfortably with art. Given our proximity to the Jackson Convention Complex, The Art Garden welcomes thousands of first-time visitors to the city. While on break between meetings or events, sample Mississippi’s rich artistic heritage, while strolling, sitting, or sunning in downtown Jackson's newest public green space.
A Space for All

Over the past three years, the Museum has distinguished itself as one of Jackson’s preeminent venues for hosting private events of all scopes and sizes — from the largest gala to the smallest gathering. Our facility rental options include The Art Garden, which promises to be as versatile an outdoor venue as any. C3, our annual Spring participatory art series in The Art Garden, provides opportunities for the community to get involved in producing an outdoor art installation.

The Art Garden’s versatile space can accommodate a variety of events. Please email cburnham@msmuseumart.org to find our more information about booking your next event in The Art Garden.

Individuals can support The Art Garden by joining the Garden Partners. Garden Partners is a support group of the Mississippi Museum of Art focused on garden-related events, volunteer opportunities, and educational programs. This group of individuals helps further the Museum’s mission and membership efforts as we extend our “Museum without walls” to include The Art Garden.
Garden Partners meets multiple times a year to plan events, learn garden-related skills, become acquainted with each other, and become more involved in the Museum through The Art Garden.
