The Art GardenThe Art Garden at the Mississippi Museum of Art is a 1.2 acre park located in the heart of Downtown Jackson. The Art Garden is surrounded by Jackson’s foremost cultural organizations, all of which contributed invaluably to its development, and is designed to engage visitors not only with visual art, but with all the arts. The Art Garden features a welcoming lawn, seasonal foliage, native garden beds, permanent art installations, water features, and outdoor terrace dining. This versatile, open, outdoor space is open to the public from daily during daylight hours. The Museum also hosts a variety of free community events—musical performances, food truck festivals, monthly after-hours gatherings, and an outdoor movie series—throughout the year in The Art Garden. Check our events calendar for information about ongoing events.
Like the Museum itself, The Art Garden is an inviting space in which everyone—from the longtime Museum member to the visitor from out-of-town—can engage comfortably with art. Given our proximity to the Jackson Convention Complex, The Art Garden welcomes thousands of first-time visitors to the city. While on break between meetings or events, sample Mississippi’s rich artistic heritage, while strolling, sitting, or sunning in this beautiful public green space in the heart of downtown Jackson.
Since opening in 2007, the Museum has distinguished itself as one of Jackson’s preeminent venues for hosting private events of all scopes and sizes—from the largest gala to the smallest gathering. Our facility rental options include The Art Garden, which is as versatile an outdoor venue as any other. For information about booking your next event, contact the Director of Museum Events and Venue Sales Shelley Yates at email@example.com or 601.965.9928.
