MMA Summer Camp

MMA Summer Camp was voted one of the Best Summer Camps in Jackson, MS by SummerCamps.com.

The Museum’s summer classes are led by experienced teaching artists and provide hands-on art experiences inspired by works of art in the collection.

All Camps:
Ages 6-10
Monday-Friday 9 AM – 4 PM
$225 for MMA Members, $250 for Non-Members

June 3-7: Whimsical Portrait Adventures
Instructor: Brejenn Allen
Use acrylic paint and found objects as tools for self-expression and create highly textured and personal mixed media paintings.

June 10-14: Pop Art Sculpture
Instructor: Christina McField
Create 2-D and 3-D Pop Art-inspired projects like self-portraits and cardboard televisions.

June 17-21: Seeing the World through Cubism
Instructor: Monica Hill
Learn about an influential art movement through Cubist-inspired portraits, masks, and animal themed art.

June 24-28: Art in Motion
Instructor: H.I. Green
Use a variety of materials and media to create interactive and kinetic works of art.

July 1-5: Air Dry Clay and Acrylic Creations
Instructor: Ashley Harper
Turn 2-D drawings into colorful and playful 3-D works of art using air dry clay and acrylic paints.

July 8-12: Wearable Art
Instructor: Majeska Coleman
Inspired by the culture of fashion, use non-traditional and recycled materials to create art students can wear.

July 15-19: Art Explorers
Instructor: Ann Jones
Experiment with 2-D techniques like collage, painting, oil pastel, and printmaking.

July 22-26: Elements of Art
Instructor: Heather Lea
Incorporate 2-D elements into a 3-D ‘environment’ that students will theme and build over the course of the session.
