The Museum’s summer classes are led by experienced teaching artists and provide hands-on art experiences inspired by works of art in the collection.
All Camps:

June 1-5: Artist See, Artist Do
Instructor: Sabrea Jordan
Create original works of art inspired by paintings, quilts, and sculptures on view in the Museum’s galleries. Through close-looking conversations and hands-on artmaking, students will discover the timeless tradition of developing skills through copying great artworks.

June 8-12: Pop Artapalooza
Instructor: Ashley Harper
Using paint, clay, and cardboard, students will create bold and colorful Pop Art-inspired objects that reference advertising and consumer culture.

June 15-19: Copy Cats
Instructor: Aynecia Gardner
Recreate works from the Museum’s collection using collage techniques and gel plate printmaking. Students will explore texture, color, line, composition, and layering.

Instructor: Monica Hill
Discover the dynamic and expressive world of cubism by breaking everyday objects and portraits into bold overlapping shapes! Students will experiment with bright colors, geometric forms, and imaginative perspectives.

July 6-10: Discover Your Creative Voice
Instructor: Ann Jones
Blending hands-on artistic exploration and imaginative play, students will experiment with the elements of art while learning fundamental art concepts in a fun, creative environment.

July 13-17: Think Ink!
Instructor: Aynecia Gardner
Over a week-long exploration of printmaking, students will result in a book with Ashcyanotypes, collages, and prints they can carry around. Students will take inspiration from artworks on view in the galleries.

July 20-24: Cardboard Creations
Instructor: Brejenn Allen
Transform everyday recycled materials—especially cardboard—into imaginative works of art inspired by themes such as pets, homes, and transportation. Students will practice creating building plans before constructing stable, three-dimensional sculptures from found materials.
