AT&T presents Makers in Their Spaces is an online offering in which MMA’s virtual participants are invited into the creative space – physical, mental, social, or otherwise – of a maker, thereby giving them unique insight into how that particular artist draws inspiration from their surroundings during this time.
Join us for our March event as we feature tattoo artist, Mallory Kay Palmertree. Finding new ways of creating and showing art, Palmertree shares her creative space – physical, mental, social, or otherwise – through this installment of AT&T presents Makers in Their Spaces.
Virtually join Mallory Kay in our next video release on Saturday, March 27 at 10 AM, and then again on Monday, March 29 at 6 PM for an interactive conversation on Instagram Live (@msmuseumart).
About the Maker:
Folk. Traditional. Colorful. These are three adjectives that not only describe Mallory Kay Palmertree’s tattoos but are woven through other areas of her life and artwork. raised in Clinton, MS and Colstrip, MT, Mallory got her first job working as a counter girl at Eagle Tat-2 in Billings, MT, and quickly fell in love with the art. She advanced through a local apprenticeship and has been a practicing tattoo artist for over ten years now. While her tattoos skillfully mimic traditional art techniques such as watercolor washes and outlines, Mallory’s creative practice is expanding beyond the tattoo parlor into her own studio, where she is beginning several experiments in fiber art and other media. Mallory’s work can be found within her studio, local art fairs, and on the skin of many Electric Dagger (Jackson, MS) patrons.
