AT&T presents Makers in Their Spaces | Stephen Phillips Part 1

AT&T presents Makers in Their Spaces is an online offering in which MMA’s virtual participants are invited into the creative space – physical, mental, social, or otherwise – of a maker, thereby giving them unique insight into how that particular artist draws inspiration from their surroundings during this time.

Join us for our first AT&T presents Makers in Their Spaces of the new year as we feature Stephen Phillips (@sphouseproductions), a ceramicist based in Crawford, MS. Phillips’ vessels are thrown on a wheel and use the ancient Japanese technique of raku firing to showcase differentiations between glazed and unglazed surfaces, and operate as functional and decorative works of art. His works have been exhibited in galleries and stores across the state, including Mississippi University for Women’s Eugenia Summer Gallery, the Rosenweig Arts Center, the R.E. Hunt’s Museum, Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art, and are currently on display within the East Mississippi Community College’s permanent collection in Scooba, MS.

Virtually step into his space, Stephen Potter House Productions, in our next video release on February 27 at 10 AM, and then join us again on Monday, March 1 at 6 PM for an interactive conversation with Phillips on Instagram Live (@msmuseumart).
