Celebrate the artistry and tradition of Southern Black quilting with a day of hands-on creativity, live demonstrations, and a guided tour. Inspired by our special exhibition, Family Day: All About Quilts offers quilt-inspired art-making activities for all ages alongside special programming throughout the Museum.
From 11 AM to 2 PM, experience Quilting Here & Now: Artist Demo Day with local quilter Stephany Brown as she shares her techniques and creative process. During this time, drop in for hands-on art-making and meet Diezel Sharpe, an MMA Afterschool Art student and a young author of Helping Others , who will be signing copies of his book from 11 AM to 1 PM. Quilt-themed storytime in the galleries will take place at select times throughout the day.
This event is part of Access for All: Free First Saturdays, which includes free Museum admission all day and a guided Close Looking Tour with a Museum Guide at 2 PM for a deeper exploration of the exhibition.
