Family Day | A Movement in Every Direction

The Trustmark Grand Hall; Galleries; The Art Garden; Foyer; Classrooms

Celebrate the opening of A Movement in Every Direction: Legacies of the Great Migration with us in this FREE fun-for-the-whole-family morning of moving, music, artmaking, and storytelling. Over the past two years, 12 contemporary artists–Akea Brionne, Mark Bradford, Zoë Charlton, Larry Cook, Torkwase Dyson, Theaster Gates Jr, Allison Janae-Hamilton, Leslie Hewitt, Steffani Jemison, Robert Pruitt, Jamea Richmond-Edwards, and Carrie Mae Weems—have been creating new artworks, especially for this show.

Attendees will have a chance to view never-before-seen artworks, better understand the artists’ processes, and reflect on their own personal histories and connections to home and place. Dress for movement and mess as free art activities will be set up throughout the Museum and in The Art Garden!
