What Became of Dr. Smith Opening Programs

To open this special exhibition, the Museum will host programs exploring the stories behind artist Noah Saterstrom’s monumental narrative painting. 

Schedule of Events:

  • 10:30 AM  The Making of an Exhibition | Megan Hines, Curator, What Became of Dr. Smith; Noah Saterstrom, Artist, What Became of Dr. Smith
  • 11:30 AM  Exploring Asylum Hill | Dr. Ralph Didlake, Director, Asylum Hill Project; Lida Gibson, Research Coordinator, Asylum Hill Project; Dr. Elizabeth West, Professor of Education, Georgia State University and Member of the Descendant Community
  • 1 PM Creating Presence from Absence | Archie Skiffer, Cultural Resource Specialist, MS Dept. of Archives and History; Jennifer McGillan, Director, The Lantern Project; John Spann, Program and Outreach Officer, Mississippi Humanities Council.

Doors open at 10 AM; coffee will be served. Boxed lunches are available for purchase, and served at 12:30 PM. A book signing with the artist will take place at 12:30 and 2 PM.
