Since 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have recognized the vision, ingenuity, and talent of our nation’s youth, and provided opportunities for creative teens to be celebrated. During this challenging year, we saw almost 600 students from all around Mississippi participate in the Scholastic Art Awards program and become a part of our community of young artists: filmmakers, photographers, graphic designers, and sculptors, along with countless educators who support and encourage the creative process.
The Awards are presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, whose mission is to identify students with exceptional artistic and literary talent and present their remarkable work to the world through the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Students receive opportunities for recognition, exhibition, publication, and scholarship.
Students’ submissions are blindly judged by leaders in the visual and literary arts. Jurors look for works that exemplify the Awards’ core values: originality, technical skill, and the emergence of personal voice or vision.
This year, over 1,200 works were submitted for regional art adjudication. This exhibition showcases the majority of the Gold- and Silver-Key winning works from talented students around Mississippi. These works will be on display until March 20, 2022.
The Mississippi Scholastic Art Awards are presented by the Mississippi Museum of Art with support from Atmos Energy.
