FOR OVER 100 YEARS, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have recognized the vision, ingenuity, and talent of our nation’s youth, and provided opportunities for creative teens to be celebrated. This year, we saw over 427 students from across Mississippi participate in the Scholastic Art Awards program and become a part of our community of young artists: filmmakers and photographers, graphic designers and sculptors, along with the 39 educators who supported and encouraged the creative process.
THE AWARDS ARE PRESENTED by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, whose mission is to identify students with exceptional artistic and literary talent and present their remarkable work to the world through the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Students receive opportunities for recognition, exhibition, publication, and scholarship.
STUDENTS’ SUBMISSIONS are blindly judged by leaders in the visual and literary arts. Jurors look for works that exemplify the Awards’ core values: originality, technical skill, and the emergence of personal voice or vision.
OVER 1,111 WORKS were this year submitted for regional art adjudication. This exhibition showcases the majority of the Gold Key-winning works from talented students around Mississippi.
The Mississippi Scholastic Art Awards are presented by the Mississippi Museum of Art with support from Atmos Energy.
